Best toy, but were already needing to replace hopefully with warranty 3months in Aug 17, 2010 I got this for my sons 2yr birthday, unsure if he was big enough. He went in circles for the first week and then took off all around our yard sidewalks after that. He learned how to steer and manuver it in no time. He loves to be on his tractor ALL day long when he can. We plug it in nightly because he uses it so much. BEST investment we've made for entertainment
BUT it's been 3 months and the reverse and 1st geer are not working now and the back tire is split in half. He does ride it every day, but it's supposed to last a few years, not a few months. I can't say how customer service is yet and if they are good on warranty. I am making the call tomorrow to hopefully get it fixed or replaced. it's mostly been riden on sidewalks and grass, nothing extreme. I certainly hope replacement is made, especially since we've barely had it. It's my sons FAVORITE toy and he will eventually need something faster and bigger, but for his age this is perfect and he loves it
I wish my own vehicles were so dependable Aug 16, 2010 I wish I had put an odometer on our JD "tractor" before giving it to my son over a year ago - this puppy has logged more miles than the original Johnny Popper, by my estimation (same battery, to boot). It continues to give my 3-year old son as much joy as it did the day that he received it.
As for educational value, if one considers 'work ethic' to be of educational value, than I can justify my four stars (my son likes to do his manly "work" with his tractor); I think it also encourages (or more likely, extends an already-present) interest in kids for 'things that go' and how those respective things work. The flip side of this skill acquisition is that you will have to take additional care with your car keys, or your kid may be the next "Applebee's baby" that steals your car and goes to dinner.
Bottom line: Peg-Perego has created an excellent product.
Best money I ever spent! Aug 09, 2010 Bought this unit 2 years ago for my then 18 month old boy. Once he learned how to drive it he was off to the races. He has ridden it almost everday since then and he absolutely loves it! It is sturdy and well built and I have just replaced the front tires as he finally wore holes in them. After I bought it I went local battery manufacturer and puchased another battery with a little more voltage for about $26. With 2 batteries I always have a freshly charged one so even if one goes dead he can keep on riding. He was 3 in April and still rides it almost everyday (he loves this thing and calls it his 4 wheeler). There's no telling how many hours of enjoyment he has gotten so far and will continue to get. The trailer attachment broke so I put a nut and bolt through it and it works fine. If you have a hilly yard don't buy it as it will not climb hills. You have to have a relatively flat yard and or driveway. This is an awesome unit but I do recommend buying the 2nd battery for convenience.
Wonderful Toy Jun 06, 2010 Our 5 year old son LOVES this tractor toy! It's very durable and the battery lasts a very long time! It's well worth the money. I couldn't be happier with it.
Birthday Present for Grandson May 25, 2010 Product went together easy and worked well. Very well built. I would think product would last for quite some time. Maybe a bit to intimidating for a two year old, but maybe two and a half up.
